Remember the Turing Test?
Just like so many benchmarks it is now in the rear-view mirror.
Back in the 80s in my ‘Minds, Machines, and Knowledge’ class at Carnegie Mellon, ‘The Turing Test’ was a thought experiment akin to Schrodinger’s Cat. No one honestly imagined it as potentially real. Maybe in a thousand years.
